At Al Andalus Institute of Pittsburgh, we prioritize comfort and appropriateness in our dress code for Pre-K and Kindergarten students to support their active learning environment. Here’s a detailed guide to our dress code:
General Guidelines
- Comfort: Ensure your child’s clothing is comfortable and allows for unrestricted movement. This helps them fully engage in play and learning activities throughout the day.
- Modesty: Clothing should be modest, reflecting our values while being suitable for an educational setting.
- Weather Appropriate: Dress your child in weather-appropriate clothing to ensure they are comfortable both indoors and outdoors.
Uniform Requirements
- Tops:
- Colors: Any color is acceptable.
- Style: Tops can be long-sleeved or short-sleeved, depending on the weather and your child’s preference.
- Fit: Tops should be loose and comfortable to allow freedom of movement.
- Bottoms:
- Colors: Any color is acceptable.
- Options: Choose from comfortable pants, skirts with leggings, or other suitable options. Ensure that skirts are paired with leggings or tights for modesty and practicality.
- Footwear:
- Style: Closed-toe shoes are required for safety reasons. This helps prevent injuries during active play and ensures stability. Please note that Crocs and flip-flops are not allowed.
- Comfort: Shoes should be comfortable and easy for children to put on and take off independently.
- Outerwear:
- Style: Weather-appropriate clothing is required. This includes jackets, coats, and rain gear as needed for various weather conditions.
- Indoor Sweaters: Indoor sweaters can be any color and should be comfortable and appropriate for indoor wear.
Prohibited Items
- Graphics: Clothing with inappropriate images, slogans, or language is not allowed. This ensures a respectful and focused learning environment.
- Accessories: Accessories are not allowed to prevent disruptions during activities and maintain safety.
Additional Notes
- Labeling: Please label all clothing with your child’s name to prevent mix-ups.
- Practicality: Avoid clothing that requires special care or is difficult to manage independently. This helps children focus on their activities rather than adjusting their clothing.
